    • GABR to HLLS 1018 nm.     I was last in Bourem in February 2010 on the RtW flight. In fourteen years, it hadn't changed. The frst leg was done with my default weather theme. For this leg I thought I'd try FSRealWX again. It looked good from the start with a light headwind, though I thought it might end up being Ghat after all...   Time to fly.   If the selected tower had a telescope.   Up to where the air is cool. Farewell to the Niger.   I wonder how your engines run.   A lonely place if you have to stop.   I did get to see some of the terrain but the highest ground was all cloaked in white per the forecast. The little fluffy clouds ran on forever. Could have been Arizona.   Flying in a blue dream.   FS9 sound off. The Orb, Orbital, Tangerine Dream and the Cocteau Twins took me across the desolation in a Sunday afternoon trance. Joe Satriani was just a touch too energetic. 34% torque against a gentle headwind gave me 250 kt over the ground and enough fuel for another 500 miles. Happy days. More so on approaching Sabha and finding that despite having passed a few TCU, there was plenty of clear air over the tarmac.   Sabha.   4h 5m and a third of my fuel in reserve.   General aviation? Well, that's alright then.   Was it hot? 102°F, no place for gloss black. Bourem was 42 C, 108°F.   All that time staring at the repaint and I've only just spotted the shoulder patches. Worse, despite all the screenies, I only noticed when fitting the intake covers after shutting down that I hadn't selected the optional external tanks. They are just cosmetic though: the tanks are always there in the config file.   Surprisingly appropriate. I didn't do it.   Flight analysis. Could have gone another 500.
    • Yep I'll pre-order it like I did with FS2020, bring it on!
    • Would you believe that Fox News won't let me read that item about the Perfect Landing fire? Apparently us Brits must be considered either too reactionary or else too sensitive to see it!   I could do the image manipulation if you send me your pics once we've found a common site maybe?   I got maybe 2/3 of the way to Joint Base Andrews and FSX CT'D again, darn it. I've got the flight saved but I'll lose the fuel data I'm sure. I'll continue the flight tomorrow.
    • With that announcement they 'should' be able to lay out the PC needed specs soon, one hopes. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this new version, based on my past history of buying every other version Microsoft has released since 1.00 in 1982 -lol   Hey, I'm 75, I can't see a reason to deny myself much of anything anymore.  Not to mention that at my age a lifetime supply of most everything costs a whole lot less.

    • Of course it's a game.  And like any other game, how you interpret the rules is how that game works for you.  If you live long enough you'll probably reach a point where you can't RW fly.  A broken neck in a plane crash did that to me.  Old age and other infirmities do that to others, and if you live long enough may do so to you.  The same for Plane Spotters or people who collect stamps.   Don't knock what you don't understand.
    • Not true    AKA  (Alaska Adventures) allows you to use FSX and P3D.  They do have FSX and P3D repaints.  AKA would meet anyone's thirst for bush flying.  Their tours have plenty of bush flying adventures.   Regards,   Aharon
    • Our multi-month fly-in adventure continues this month, where we pick up where we stopped last month in Ketchikan and continue to Juneau.   Juneau is the capital city of the U.S. state of Alaska, located in the Gastineau Channel and the Alaskan panhandle. Juneau was named the capital of Alaska in 1906. The city is named after a gold prospector from Quebec, Joe Juneau.   Juneau is unique among the 48 U.S. state capitals that there are no roads connecting the city to the rest of the state or North America. Honolulu, Hawaii, is the only other state capital which is not connected by road to the rest of North America. The absence of a road network is due to the extremely rugged terrain surrounding the city. In turn Juneau is a de facto island city in terms of transportation. All goods coming in and out must be transported by plane or boat, despite the city's location on the Alaskan mainland.   Canadian Xpress would like to invite all pilots to join us on Saturday, June 22nd from 21h00edt (Sunday 01h00z) to 24h00edt (Sunday 04h00z) for our June 2024 fly-in where we depart from Ketchikan (PAKT) and fly to Juneau (PAJN).   One lucky Canadian Xpress pilot* will win: • Any Just Flight Product from: https://www.justflight.com *Please see Fly-In PDF for contedt details and eligibility requirements.   This is an open invitation to all pilots no matter what your flying experience to attend this Canadian Xpress event that will be flown on the VATSIM network.   More information regarding this event including operational details, charts, optional add-on scenery and Canadian Xpress Model Sets can be viewed by visiting https://canadianxpress.ca   See you all on Saturday the 25th!

    • Aah, that's the crux, I'm not really pretending anything I mostly regard it as a game, I honestly don't get "serious simmers" just as I don't get plane spotters at some of the popular small airfields in the UK who approach my aircraft when parked with a little notebook and don't even acknowledge me (the person who just stepped out)....reality seems a distant world to some. Enjoy your alternative
