A USA Jet Airlines (Belleville) McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15F (N199US msn 47153) crashed Sunday just west of Monterrey, Mexico, killing the pilot and injuring the co-pilot. The co-pilot received second- and third-degree burns and is currently in critical condition at a hospital. The crash occurred around 2:15 am as the aircraft approached the Plan de Guadalupe International Airport in Saltillo, Mexico, carrying a load of auto parts. The National Transportation Safety Board, which confirmed the death of the pilot, reported no one was injured on the ground. The co-pilot suffered severe burns. The NTSB has sent a team of investigators to assist the Mexican government in its probe of the incident.
